Lake Superior Dragon Boat Festival - (2023 date TBD)
Located at the head of Lake Superior, this 400-meter race is a straight course that takes place in the Superior Bay off of Barkers Island. The water between the island and the mainland provides an ideal venue for the race, and historic Barker’s Island is a terrific staging area for not only the race but is also a recreational park for local residents. There is ample space for spectators and all the activities associated with the festival. Many teams erect tents for the weekend, socialize, nap and celebrate on the island. Race heats take place completely in view across the island and happen in quick succession. The event is family friendly, has no admission fee for spectators, and is tons of fun!
Billings Park Days - (1st weekend of August)
Billings Park Days is a family-friendly festival that takes place in Billings Park, Superior, WI There are several events, starting on Friday which continue throughout the day and night on Saturday! The whole festival is family-oriented, meaning that you can bring the whole family with – in fact, it’s encouraged! Stop on by to enjoy some events, such as the crafts fair, car show, and fireworks! East End Family Fun Days - (3rd weekend of September)
Nothing says “the good ol’ days” like a stroll around the East End of Superior. From the Old Firehouse Museum to neighborhood taverns, then & now local businesses to the Carnegie Library, the first developing neighborhoods to the local cafes, this part of Superior is rich in character and is still celebrated as a great family neighborhood. East End Family Fun Day brings this family feeling to life every 3rd Saturday of September. Every year, there are food vendors to try, a pet parade to love, games to play, raffles to win, the car show to admire, local talent from the area by the main tent, and miles of rummage sales to find treasures! Bring the whole family down and see what East End has to offer!
Sleigh & Cutter Rally - January 14, 2023
Northwoods Harness Club presents the Annual Sleigh & Cutter Rally. 1800's costumes, antique sleighs. Food served on grounds. Free admission.
Book Across the Bay - February 18, 2023
Cross-country ski race and tour, or snowshoe trek across Chequamegon Bay from Ashland to Washburn. Navigate the 10K course by the light of the stars plus hundreds of candlelit ice luminaries. Join more than 3,000 racers for this unique winter event.
Northern Pines Sled Dog Race - February 18, 2023
This sled dog race is unique as it includes sprint racing teams which are short distance high speeds with mid distance racers which are longer distances at slower overall average speeds. We have now added weight pulls and kids mutt races. These dog powered events are intended to promote the Iron River area and encourage outdoor winter related activities. PLEASE JOIN US!
Slumberland American Birkebeiner - February 23-25, 2023
North America's largest and most prestigious X-C ski marathon. 12,000 skiers of all ages, genders and nationalities participate in the Birkebeiner (50k Skate/55k Classic), the 29K Kortelopet, Prince Haakon 15K, the children's Barnebirkie, and Junior Birkie. Other fun events include the Barkie Birkie Skijor and Giant Ski Competition. The Birkie is a year-round lifestyle choice for thousands of outdoor fitness enthusiasts of all levels.
Lumberjack World Championships - July 20-22, 2023
Yo-Ho! Come see the best chopping, sawing, speed climbing, axe-throwing, boom-running, and logrolling at the Annual Lumberjack World Championships(LWC). The competition will showcase competitors from around the globe saw, chop, climb and roll their way to the title of World Champion. 24 events, 3 days of competition, prize money, and a great north woods festival with vendors, food trucks, the Swinging Axe Beer Garden, live music, and more! Great family fun! You'll have a darned good time!
